Category : Featured , News

Do-nut forget! Our first June event is this Friday (6/4). We are celebrating ‘National Donut Day’ at Duck Donuts (825 Polaris Parkway) at 9:30am. Meetup with other Pack 197 families (this is not a dropoff event) and grab a donut…or two…or a dozen…

Depending on crowd size, we may reconvene at Hoff Woods Park (556 McCorkle Blvd) to maintain distancing.

Blue & Gold Tailgate
May 10 @ 6:00 PM
(Earlier Start Time to Accommodate for the Entertainment)
Heritage Christian Church
(Park in the main parking lot, and then walk around to the parking area to the right.)

1// Size Restrictions – The BSA guidance calls for spreading out, and having immediate groupings no larger than 10. We’ve done this very well with Den meetings and Cold Toes, so we will continue to follow this at the Blue & Gold. We kindly ask that your grouping of family and/or friends be no larger than 10.
2// Masks – We will continue to wear masks for all attendees unless actively eating.
3// Food – We will not be able to serve dinner this year, so we opted to go with a tailgate-style event. You are welcome to bring dinner or snacks with you. (Please no cooking on site.)
4// Distancing – Each family will have their own parking space to tailgate in, and then participate in the ceremony from. We’ll ask that everyone stays in their designated parking space during the evening to keep the distance required.

Hiking Club – Hogback Park

Category : News

Weather forecast predicts Saturday to be sunny as well…lets make the most of it by going for a guided hike! Our monthly family hike is Saturday, January 23rd at 10am at Hogback Ridge Park (2656 Sunbury Rd, Sunbury). The first half of your 1 mile hike will be following the Preservation Parks of Delaware County’s Winter Letterbox Adventure (PDF attached). (A little birdie told me that the Corbin family has visited SEVEN of the 8 Preservation Parks in the last few weeks…WOW!). The second half will be using our own guided hike PDF, which I’ve enclosed. At the end, you’ll need to find the hidden treasure box to receive your bead and a prize.

Whether this will be your first family hike or your 4th, all are wanted and welcome. It’s a new year and a great time to redouble our commitment to being outside with the ones we love. Please be sure to wear a mask and feel free to bring the hiking stave (stick) you received this summer. If you are new to the pack, or are missing elements (compass, paracord, leather cord, rubber footer), we do have some extras, while supplies last. AND, we’ll have some older Scouts available to help get your stave ready for the trails!

As always, if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to reach out to me via email or my cell at 260-409-6166.
