ABC Meal Packing

ABC Meal Packing

Pack 197 will be serving Heritage Christian Church, our chartering organization, with its yearly ABC Meal Packing event.

What’s Happening? /// We’ll be helping fill and package many thousand dry goods meals for families in need. The dry goods being packaged will be rice, beans, and several other powdered nutrients. They are measured out, and then sealed in quart-size plastic bags for distribution to families. Scouts will be shown how to measure everything, and then will work in teams of six to fill each quart-sized bag.

Who’s Invited? // All Scouts, parents, and older siblings are invited to participate. Due to the nature of keeping a clean food packing station, non-school-aged siblings will wait in the lobby of the church with parents. Pack 197 Scouts have participated in this event the last two years, and it is a very tangible way to see service efforts come to fruition in a very short morning.

When? /// October 12 from 9:00-10:30 — We’ll meet in the church lobby as a group at 8:50.

Where? /// Heritage Christian Church — The same place we have Scouts!

Why? /// To support our Chartering Organization. To serve others. To have fun!

Other Details ///

– Scouts will wear gloves and hairnets while packaging food. If there are any allergies to food preparation/medical gloves, please check in with me about substitutes.

– Parents are requested to stay on-site and participate alongside their Scouts during the service project.

– Please wear your Activity Uniform (uniform shirt), and be ready to have fun!

Families are welcome to show up the morning of the event. However, if you definitely plan on coming, please notify Nathan Ericson.
