Pack Committee Volunteers Needed

Pack Committee Volunteers Needed

Category : News

Parents and Leaders,

Our April Committee Meeting will be held Tuesday, April 2 at Heritage at 6:30p. The agenda is posted here: https://westervillepack197.org/2019/03/cub-scout-pack-197-committee-meeting-april-2-2019/

One of the major discussion topics this month will be the volunteer positions that have recently been vacated by families that crossed over to Scouts BSA. I’ve attached our current organizational chart so you can see the open positions.

Any box without a name in it is where Pack 197 needs volunteers!  Contact Bob O’Bryan, Robert Bryant, or a Den Leader if you can help!!

Here is a short description of each:

Scout Night

Assist the Membership Chair plan the Scout Night in August for prospective new Scouts. This position starts in mid-summer, and is done as soon as Scout Night is done. We have very good documentation for this event.

T-Shirts

Assist the Membership Chair with T-Shirt, sweatshirt, and hat sales. This person needs to contact our vendor to get current pricing, get an order form from the vendor, and coordinate with the webmaster to make orders available online. Orders are distributed at Pack and Den meetings in September.

Ceremonies

We are seeking someone to coordinate with the leads for the crossover and Blue and Gold ceremonies. Ideally this volunteer would have experience helping with one or both of these events so they can provide guidance and answer questions for those running the events. These events are typically done in February and May.

Crossover

With a group of parent volunteers, plan the crossover ceremony. This includes reserving the church, preparing the script/PowerPoint, and ordering cakes. This event is done in February.

Raingutter Regatta

Plan the Raingutter Regatta in August. This low key event welcomes our scouts back from summer break in early August. This position includes reserving a park shelter, coordinating food, ordering trophies, and sending out communication to the pack.

Pinewood Derby

With a group of parent volunteers, plan and run the Pinewood Derby in February. There are a number of volunteers that will take care of trophies, timing, and food, but we need someone to take on the overall planning for the event.

Assistant Cubmaster

Assist our Cubmaster as needed to plan and run pack meetings, camp outs, and other activities. Ideally, this is someone that has a strong scouting background, and could be someone that already is serving in another role.
